PROGRAMS & SERVICES
Workforce Readiness & Employment Navigation
We help participants strengthen financial habits and regain control of their resources through hands-on financial literacy coaching, credit repair assistance, and budgeting guidance. Our goal is to empower participants with the tools to manage income, build savings, and achieve sustainable independence.
Benefits Navigation
Helping participants understand, apply for, and maintain access to benefits and community resources that support long-term stability and well-being. We provide assistance with applications, required documentation, eligibility questions, renewals, and referrals to partner agencies. Services may include support accessing Medicaid, SNAP, SSI/SSDI, VA benefits, energy assistance, transportation resources, and other programs designed to reduce barriers and increase financial stability. Our team works alongside participants to help them navigate complex systems, understand their options, and connect with the support they need. Through our partnership with the Mesa County Workforce Center, we help participants access employment services, training opportunities, career coaching, and job placement resources. To reduce transportation barriers, Sunshine Community provides transportation to and from the Workforce Center every Wednesday, helping participants stay connected to the services and support they need. Our role is not just to make referrals—we walk alongside participants throughout the process, providing encouragement, accountability, and practical support as they build skills, gain confidence, and work toward long-term employment and stability.
Document & Mail Services
Sunshine Community provides secure document storage and a reliable mailing address for participants who may not have a safe or stable place to keep important records or receive mail. These services help individuals maintain access to identification documents, benefit paperwork, housing applications, employment records, medical correspondence, and other essential information. By ensuring important documents and mail remain accessible and organized, participants are better equipped to navigate housing, employment, benefits, and other systems that support long-term stability and self-sufficiency.

Digital Skills & Learning Opportunities
Sunshine Community offers on-site computer access and weekly rotating digital skills workshops designed to help participants build confidence using technology in everyday life, education, and employment. Topics may include basic computer skills, email, internet safety, online job applications, Microsoft Office, resume development, digital organization, financial literacy, and other practical workplace technologies. Workshops are facilitated by our Digital Skills Instructor and are tailored to meet participants where they are, whether they are learning technology for the first time or strengthening existing skills. Through guided instruction and hands-on practice, participants gain the knowledge and confidence needed to navigate an increasingly digital world, access online resources, and pursue educational and employment opportunities. We partner with online learning platforms and local educators to ensure participants have the tools, time, and support they need to advance their education and career readiness. This initiative opens doors to higher-paying jobs, increased confidence, and long-term self-sufficiency.
Transportation &Bicycle program
The Earn-A-Bike Program is a partnership between Sunshine Community and Grand Junction BikeWrights that helps individuals overcome transportation barriers while building practical skills and community connections. Participants can earn a refurbished bicycle by volunteering at community bike clinics, assisting with bicycle restoration projects, and participating in approved personal development activities. Through hands-on learning, participants gain basic bicycle maintenance and repair skills that help them safely and confidently use their bicycles as reliable transportation. Sunshine Community provides participant support, resource navigation, and program coordination, while Grand Junction BikeWrights supplies bicycles, tools, technical expertise, and volunteer-led instruction. By combining transportation access, skill-building, and community engagement, the Earn-A-Bike Program empowers individuals to increase mobility, access employment and essential services, and work toward greater independence and stability.
